For in text citations put the last name of the author and the page number of the book or other source that it is in.
ex: As Mr.Bill Gates writes in his book, ".................." (Gates,23).
Rules for quotations:
1) ID the Author of the book
2) preview the quote, i.e. give a little explanation of what the quote will be discussing.
3) then introduce the quote into a sentence, because sentences cannot begin with Quotations.
4) copy the quote word for word
You also need to add a "Work Cited Page" so that if someone reads your paper and want's to go find your sources and maybe
even do a little more research to understand what you did to research your subject before you wrote your paper. Work Cited
Pages should usually be single spaced and list the follow information for each source: Author name (Last name, First name)
the name of the book or other source that you are using, the publishing company, their location, the year of publication and
what medium of publication that was used. These pages should also be alphabetized.
Work Cited entries for books look like this:
Cary, Justin. <i>The Twinning: Verse One: The Silver
Coins.</i> iUniverse INC. 2006. Print.
Smith, William. <i>The Rise of Games</i> Longfellow
Publications. New York, NY. 2009. Print.
